The Katie Philpott School of Dance

The Story so far...

The Katie Philpott School of Dance was established in 2000 by its namesake
to celebrate and share her passion for dance and now provides classes in Mirfield for more than 350 students.

We're now in the final days of rehearsals in readiness for our next show, the Choreographic Cup and Freestyle Presentation at the Lawrence Batley Theatre on Sunday, 31st March.

We hold the CHOREOGRAPHIC CUP every two years to give our dancers the opportunity to choreograph their own work, develop their creativity and appreciation of dance and be able to perform by themselves or with friends on the professional stage in Huddersfield. It's a very exciting chance for our students to choose their own music and design their own piece of dance to perform for their friends, families and members of the public.

This year, we are delighted there has been a record number of entries so come along, support our talented dancers and enjoy a great afternoon of entertainment - what a lovely treat on Mother's Day!

To buy tickets (don't delay, more than 300 have already been sold), call the theatre's Box Office on 01484 430 528 or order online

ISTD Modern and Tap exams will be held on Thursday 21st March. There will be some minor class disruption, please see your emails or Facebook to check if your classes will be affected.

This week, we will be attending, as proud sponsors, the 2019 My Mirfield Awards - good luck to all the local businesses and community groups who have made it to the finals!

We have spaces available in our entry-level dance classes for toddlers and young children in Mirfield. Disco Duck and Creative Movement are specifically designed for pre-school children and are delivered by our teaching team for children aged 2, 3 and 4-years-old.
