Welcome to our dance school in Mirfield, West Yorkshire

The Katie Philpott School of Dance

The Story so far...

The Katie Philpott School of Dance was established in 2000 by its namesake
to celebrate and share her passion for dance and now provides classes in Mirfield for more than 350 students.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in our Choreographic Cup and Freestyle Presentation at the Lawrence Batley Theatre.

It was a truly wonderful day of dance and a celebration of the dedication and commitment that KPSD students show in their approach to dance.

Thank you to all the courageous Choreographic Cup entrants who created their routines by themselves, choose music and costume and performed to an audience of more than 300 - no mean feat for anyone.

Our thanks also go to our Creative Director Rachel and her freestyle dancers for entertaining us with high energy dances and, of course, to all the chaperones, backstage and FOH helpers, without whom the show simply wouldn't go on!

The day is over in a flash but thankfully it was captured on camera by our film-maker Tim and theatre photographer Sunny. The DVDs will be available in a few weeks to anyone who ordered one, and all our parents and carers will be emailed a password to view and buy the photographs on Sunny's website.

And last but not least, our thanks to Peter who had the unenviable task of adjudicating our Choreographic Cup and choosing first, second and third placings for our six categories. The overall Choreographic Cup 2019 went to Lara and Grace for their wonderful Not About Angels performance - congratulations to them and everyone who took part, it was a truly special KPSD day!

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Easter and remind you that School closes after classes on Saturday 13th April and re-opens ready for a busy summer term on Monday 29th April.

Don't forget if your son or daughter wants to take their first steps in the wonderful world of dance, our FREE TRIAL classes are available at all levels and we have spaces for children from aged two upwards,.

To find out more about our classes take a look around our website and email me at
