TEACHERS AT THE KATIE PHILPOTT SCHOOL OF DANCE
Katie Philpott
ISTD Dip, DDE (Diploma in Dance Education) Ballet, Tap and Modern.
Katie trained locally from the age of 5 at the Angela Reynolds
School of Dancing in Ossett and the Dorothy Stevens school in
Lightcliffe. At the age of 18, Katie began her 3 year professional
dance training at Laine Theatre Arts, Epsom, Surrey, which was
followed by a 10 year career performing in theatre, circus, and
on cruise ships. Katie was head dancer for 6 years with Matrix
Entertainments and worked with many talented and well renowned
choreographers
such as Dougie Squires, Peter Gordino, Rex Grey,
and Alan Harding.
Katie has been a fully qualified teacher of the ISTD (Imperial
Society of Teachers of Dancing) since 1997 and taught at the
Deborah Lamb Theatre Dance School, Uckfield, and the Doris Isaacs
School of Dance, Brighton.
Katie returned to Yorkshire in 2000 and opened the school in
Mirfield in September of that year.
Hayley Robinson
Teaches ISTD Ballet, Modern & Tap
Hayley trained at the Dorothy Stevens School and Spotlight Stage
School where she presently teaches. Hayley has been studying
for her FDI dance teaching certificate with the Imperial Society
of Teachers of Dancing at Dorothy Stevens and has successfully
qualified in Tap and Modern. Hayley is continueing to further
her qualifications and we are very pleased that Hayley has joined
our team with her enthusiasm for dance and safe practice of teaching.
Hannah Jones
Teaches ISTD Tap & Ballet and Adult Tap & Pilates classes
Hannah is a former pupil of Reynolds school of Dance, Ossett
and has recently returned home to Yorkshire from London. Hannah
trained professionally at Cambridge Performing Arts at the Bodywork
Company and London Contemporary Dance School at
'The Place' where she gained her National Diploma in Professional
Dance and a Certificate of Higher Education in Contemporary Dance.
Hannah has appeared in numerous productions from pantomimes to working with leading choreographers such as Kim Brandstrup and Richard Alston.
Hannah completed her RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching studies in November 2010 and has been a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance since completing the qualification. She is also currently working towards her ISTD DDE Ballet and Tap and professional Pilates teaching qualifications. Hannah welcomes this teaching opportunity and looks forward to being part of the team, she hopes her passion for dance will help inspire others.
Rachel Bowers
Teaches jazz and street dance
Rachel has been trained in Jazz, Street Dance, Cheerleading and Body Tone and Stretch. She has danced and acted from a very young age and is in fact a past pupil of the Katie Philpott School of Dance.
Rachel has obtained a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts and through further studies gained a BA (Hons) in Drama.
Rachel has spent the last few years teaching Street Dance and Cheerleading in schools throughout the Kirklees area. More recently has been working as a Community Sports Dance Coach for St John Fisher School Sports Partnership.
CANDIDA WILMAN A.I.S.T.D dip R.A.D teaching cert
Teaches modern, tap and ballet
Candida (Candy) began dancing at Kathleen West's School of Dance in Gomersal. She then went on to further her training at 'The Hammond School of Dance' in Chester where she won the first year endevour award and choreographic competition. She gained her equity card dancing in pantomime and appearing in numerous tv shows including 'Coronation Street'.
She has been teaching I.S.T.D Modern and tap and R.A.D Ballet for nearly 20 years and has choreographed and produced numerous shows at the L.B.T theatre, Huddresfield Town Hall and other local theatres and venues. In 2010 she gave birth to a baby boy and at the beginning of 2012 she also had a baby girl.
