EXAMINATIONS

ISTD examinations in tap, ballet, jazz and modern are run throughout the school year but are entirely optional. If a pupil decides not to enter an exam and and we are happy that they have worked to a satisfactory level, then they will automatically move up to the next grade with the rest of the class.

Parents will be informed by letter when an exam is approaching and an application form and exam fees have to be returned to the school by suggested date. Once entered, exam fees are non-refundable.

All pupils must take the responsability of obtaining the correct uniform required for the exam. All the uniform can be ordered from Karen Rogers, but please be aware, if items are out of stock, it can take approximately 28 days delivery.

The required uniform is as follows:

Imperial Ballet

Pre-Primary
Blue leotard & skirt, pink ballet socks, pink leather ballet shoes with elastics.

Primary
Blue leotard & skirt, pink ballet socks, pink leather ballet shoes with ribbons.

Grade 1 - 4
Blue leotard with belt pink ballet tights, pink leather ballet shoes with ribbons. (no skirt - belts can be borrowed from Karen Rogers)

Grade 5 & 6
Plum leotard, pink ballet tights with seams, pink leather ballet shoes with ribbons. (no skirt)

Tap

Primary - Grade 2 Tap
Kingfisher leotard and skirt, white ballet socks (available at the school), low black tap shoes with black laces and preferably heel taps.

Grade 3
Burgundy leotard and skirt, tan dance support tights (no gusset), black tap shoes with heel taps.

Grade 4, 5 & 6 / Tap Awards
Red velvet and black lycra leotard, black lycra jazz pants, black tap shoes with teletone taps.

Modern & Jazz

Primary, Grade 1 & 2 Modern
Kingfisher lycra leotard, black lycra cycle shorts or capri leggings. Bare feet.

Grade 3 Modern
Burgundy leotard, black lycra cycle shorts or capri leggings, black sports ankle socks, black split sole jazz shoes or bare feet.

Grade 4 - 6 Modern
Red velvet and black lycra leotard, black lycra capri leggings, bare feet or split sole jazz shoes with short black sports ankle socks.

Intermediate Foundation / Intermediate / Advanced Students:
Black cotton lycra leotard and capri length leggings, bare feet.
NB: You must provide your photo ID on the exam day.

Boys
Tight fitting white t-shirt or leotard, black cycle shorts or straight legged jazz pants, bare feet up to grade 2. Split sole jazz shoes may be worn from grade 3 upwards.

Jazz Exams
Same as the Modern uniforms above (either the burgundy, or red velvet leotard with matching leggings).
